Description :
The Jaguar E-Type (known as the Jaguar E-Type in the UK and the Jaguar XK-E in the US) is a sports car built by the British automaker Jaguar in the 1960s and 1970s. Presented at the 1961 Geneva International Motor Show, it succeeded the XK series. Production ran from 1961 to 1975 and included three body styles (convertible, coupé, and 2+2), three series, and a modern electric reissue in 2017.
While its lines are reminiscent of the Jaguar D-Type, the E-Type was a very modern design for its time. It was designed by aerodynamicist Malcolm Sayer, under the supervision of William Lyons. Numerous developments and modifications were made throughout the model's lifespan to improve performance, safety, comfort, and to comply with regulations, particularly in the United States, its primary market. The abandonment of the inline six-cylinder engine in 1971 in favor of a new Jaguar V12 engine constitutes one of the major modifications.
