Le M18 Hellcat (officiellement désigné 76 mm Gun Motor Carriage M18 ou M18 GMC) était un chasseur de chars utilisé par l'armée américaine pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale et la guerre de Corée. Bien qu'équipé du même canon principal que certaines variantes du char Sherman, beaucoup plus imposant, le M18 atteignait une vitesse de pointe bien supérieure, jusqu'à 89 km/h (55 mph), grâce à un blindage minimal et à l'utilisation de la transmission automatique Torqmatic, une innovation majeure.
Le M18 Hellcat était l'aboutissement du développement de divers prototypes de chasseurs de chars rapides, initié en 1941. Entré en production à l'été 1943, le M18 connut son baptême du feu au printemps 1944. Il servit principalement en Europe de l'Ouest, mais fut également présent, en plus petit nombre, en Italie et dans le Pacifique. La production se poursuivit jusqu'en octobre 1944, avec 2 507 exemplaires construits.

The M18 Hellcat was the culmination of the development of various prototypes of fast tank destroyers dating back to 1941. Entering production in summer 1943, the M18 first saw combat service in spring 1944. The M18 served primarily in Western Europe, but was also present in smaller numbers in Italy and the Pacific. Production continued until October 1944, with 2,507 built.
