Le Panzerkampfwagen IV (Pz.Kpfw. IV), plus communément appelé Panzer IV, est un char moyen allemand développé à la fin des années 1930 et largement utilisé pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Sa désignation dans l'inventaire des munitions était Sd.Kfz. 161.
Le Panzer IV fut le char allemand le plus produit et le deuxième véhicule blindé de combat chenillé allemand le plus produit durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale ; 8 553 exemplaires de toutes versions furent construits, un chiffre seulement dépassé par le canon d'assaut StuG III et ses 10 086 véhicules. Son châssis servit également de base à de nombreux autres véhicules de combat, notamment le canon d'assaut Sturmgeschütz IV, le canon antichar automoteur Jagdpanzer IV, les canons antiaériens automoteurs Wirbelwind et Ostwind, et le canon automoteur Brummbär.
Le Panzer IV a été utilisé sur tous les théâtres d'opérations impliquant l'Allemagne et fut le seul char allemand à être resté en production continue tout au long de la guerre.

The Panzer IV was the most numerous German tank and the second-most numerous German fully tracked armoured fighting vehicle of the Second World War; 8,553 Panzer IVs of all versions were built during World War II, only exceeded by the StuG III assault gun with 10,086 vehicles. Its chassis was also used as the base for many other fighting vehicles, including the Sturmgeschütz IV assault gun, the Jagdpanzer IV self-propelled anti-tank gun, the Wirbelwind and Ostwind self-propelled anti-aircraft guns, and the Brummbär self-propelled gun.
The Panzer IV saw service in all combat theatres involving Germany and was the only German tank to remain in continuous production throughout the war.
