Le HMS Naiad, construit par la Royal Navy entre 1939 et 1942, est un navire de la classe Dido. Au début de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, il intègre la flotte britannique pour la protection des navires marchands. En novembre 1940, il participe à la recherche de cuirassés de poche allemands. En décembre et janvier de l'année suivante, il escorte des convois vers Freetown, en Sierra Leone. En mai 1941, le HMS Naiad participe à des combats au large de Malte, en Méditerranée, puis à l'attaque aérienne allemande contre l'île Kerry-Vincent.

Le 11 mars 1942, lors de son voyage de retour au large de la Crète, le HMS Naiad est coulé par une torpille du sous-marin allemand U-565, faisant 77 victimes.
