Dix canons antiaériens Flak 18 de 8,8 cm furent montés sur affûts sur des châssis de DB 8 et DB 9 en 1939, désignés 8,8 cm Flak 18 (Sfl.) auf Zugkraftwagen 12t (Sd.Kfz. 8), pour des missions antichars. Un bouclier était prévu pour le canon de 88 cm, mais l'équipe de servants ne bénéficiait d'aucune autre protection. Les dix canons furent affectés à la première compagnie du bataillon antichar Panzerjäger-Abteilung 8, qui participa à l'invasion de la Pologne en 1939, à la bataille de France en 1940 et à l'opération Barbarossa en 1941.

Ten 8.8 cm Flak 18 anti-aircraft guns were mounted on pedestals on DB s8 and DB 9 chassis in 1939 as the 8.8 cm Flak 18 (Sfl.) auf Zugkraftwagen 12t (Sd.Kfz. 8) for anti-tank duties. A gun shield was provided for the 88, but the gun crew had no other protection. All ten were assigned to the first company of the anti-tank battalion Panzerjäger-Abteilung 8 which participated in the Invasion of Poland in 1939, the Battle of France in 1940 and Operation Barbarossa in 1941.
