Le 8 mai 1944, le général en charge de l'armement antiaérien ordonna le développement d'un Flakpanzer de 5,5 cm équipé d'un canon jumelé (Zwillingsflak). Ce canon devait être intégré dans une tourelle. Krupp & Rheinmetall obtint la commande pour le développement de cette tourelle. Conçue pour le char E-50/E-75, la tourelle était équipée d'un équipage de quatre hommes et disposait d'une capacité de 104 obus. Un prototype fut construit en janvier 1945.

On May 8th 1944 the general of Flak-weapons ordered the development of a 5.5cm Flakpanzer with a Zwillingsflak (twingun). The twinguns should be integrated in a turret. Krupp and rheinmetall got the order for the development of that turret. The turret was designed for the E-50/E75 tank had a crew of 4 and 104 shot ammunition. A prototype of the turret had been build until January 1945 .
