Forts de leur succès sur les trains blindés à voie large, les wagons BP 42 standard furent également équipés de deux wagons porte-chars munis de réservoirs amovibles Prage 38(t). Ces wagons, de forme tubulaire, et un blindage repliable protégeaient le châssis. Pour retirer le réservoir, il fallait dételer le wagon pousseur précédent ; un attelage Scharfenberg automatique était prévu.

After good experiences with them in the broad-gauge armored trains, the standard BP 42 was also equipped with two tank-carrier cars with removable Prage 38(t) tanks. The tub-shaped cars plus a folding armored shield protected the running gear. To remove the tank the pusher car ahead had to be uncoupled, an automatic Scharfenberg coupling was provided.
