La BMW R12 était la moto allemande la plus populaire de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Entre 1936 et 1942, 36 000 exemplaires ont été produits. Elle a débuté sa carrière avant la guerre comme moto civile, puis a été modifiée pour servir dans la Wehrmacht et d'autres formations de l'armée allemande. Une version armée de la mitrailleuse MG-34 servait d'unité de soutien. La BMW R12 a participé à des combats sur presque tous les théâtres d'opérations, à l'exception du Pacifique. De nombreuses BMW sont aujourd'hui entre les mains de collectionneurs et roulent encore.

BMW R12 was the most popular german motorcycle in II World War. In period 1936-42 36000 of this motorcycles was produced. However he starts his career before war as civilian motorcycle, later modified for service in Wehrmacht and other german army formations. Version armed with MG-34 machinegun was served as support unit. BMW R12 participated in fights on almost all theatres of war except Pacific. Lot of BMW’s today are in collectors hands and still driving.
