Le canon antichar dédié, le PaK 43 de 8,8 cm, dérivait du Geräte 42 de Krupp, mentionné précédemment. Il utilisait un nouvel affût cruciforme, plaçant le canon beaucoup plus près du sol, ce qui le rendait bien plus facile à dissimuler et plus difficile à toucher. Il était également doté d'un blindage plus épais et plus incliné pour une meilleure protection. L'armement standard du Tiger II, le canon de char KwK 43, était essentiellement le PaK 43 modifié extérieurement pour être installé dans une tourelle. Il existait également des versions automotrices de ce canon, notamment les chasseurs de chars Nashorn et Jagdpanther. Toutes les versions étaient capables de pénétrer environ 200 mm de blindage à 1 000 m, ce qui leur permettait de percer le blindage de n'importe quel char de l'époque.

A dedicated anti-tank gun, the 8.8 cm PaK 43 was developed from Krupp's Gerät 42, mentioned above. This used a new cruciform mount with the gun much closer to the ground, making it far easier to hide and harder to hit. It was also provided with a much stronger and more angled armour shield to provide better protection. The standard armament of the Tiger II, the KwK 43 tank gun, was essentially the PaK 43 externally modified to fit into a turret. There were also self-propelled versions of the gun, including the Nashorn and Jagdpanther tank destroyers. All versions were able to penetrate about 200 mm of armour at 1,000 m, allowing it to defeat the armor of any contemporary tank.
